Arthur Sails to Canada

Official Crew for Quiet Island #1291

Dinghy Familiarization

Tip 1

The first step to getting your pet ready for the Sailing Experience, is to aclimate him to the equipment.

(an understanding wife is essential during this phase.)

A really sporty life jacket

Tip 2

Dogs are very image conscious. You have to convince them that wearing a life jacket will really make them look cool.

(Bribery works well here.)

Safety first!

Tip 3

Enforce the rules. No running on the docks!

Safety first!

Tip 4

For longer trips, teach your dog to play cards. They can be a worthy adversary, especially at poker.

(I would recommend a 3 Milkbone table limit, just to be safe.)

Safety first!

Tip 5

Dogs always call shotgun, even on boats, so get used to it.

Safety first!

Tip 6

Remember, the morning ritual sets the tone for the day.

A pleasant sail starts with a happy crew.

Safety first!

Tip 7

Make it easy for your best friend to get back on board after a trip ashore. A ramp can take all the stress out of the daily routine.

Safety first!

Tip 8

Make your trips onshore an adventure!

(Note: Beware of dead smelly fish!)

Safety first!

Tip 9

Let sleeping dogs lie. Especially if they have claimed a prime spot on the low side.

Safety first!

Tip 10

If you're traveling with a group of sailors, mischief is bound to happen onshore.

Sometimes a cute face can make the difference between an adventure and an ordeal.

Recognize your assets and use them wisely.

Safety first!

Tip 11

After 1,000 miles on the high seas, a salty dog has earned his place.

Safety first!

Tip 12

But DON"T let him sleep in the v-berth!

Those romantic moonlit nights in a quiet secluded anchorage will never be the same.

Make sure your dog has enough water!
