Anchoring
Here's a interesting page on anchoring.
Anchors
That particular link is way old. I think it suggests using 3 inches of chain on dental floss!
One of the very best articles I've read about anchoring is this one, which is four pages long and icnludes pictures. Use THIS one! [1]
Docking
You'll need some dock lines and it usually helps to have a fender or two.
