FAQ: Racor Fuel/Water Separator

c34d.gif (1515 bytes)How can I tell whether there's water in my fuel? Just by looking at the plastic container at the bottom of the Racor fuel/water separator, I can't tell whether I'm looking at water or diesel fuel.

Drain a little fuel from the filter bowl into a small glass jar.  If water is present, it'll bead up in the bottom of the glass.  If more than a few drops appear, consider using a diesel water absorber.  Keeping your tank full will discourage condensation, especially in the spring, fall and winter (Ron Hill).
