We were in a Sushi bar right after we bought the boat and were sort of
over served on saki when the naming of the boat and our new cat came up. We bandied a few
names about when I looked down at my plate and said, "California Roll" and
the name stuck. (MY friends 27 Catalina was named Sweet Roll" so it all made sense to
us.)
The cat was named "Niko" which is Japanese for cat and the evening was complete.
I still have California Roll but the cat provided a coyote a dinner shortly
there after so Niko is gone but California Rool is alive and well in Alimitos
Bay here in Long Beach.

Our Catalina 25 was also named Noeta. We
thought the name was unique, sounded vaguely native while also filled
the "fun" requirement.
If you read it is "Noeta"
If you spell it out load you usually get the "No ETA".

I want to try living on it and I don't care if it ever sleeps more then 2, comfortably.
I'll have to live with the fore and aft Bulkhead positions but thats about it.I've removed
the floor, between the bulkheads, to replace the cross beams and Mast step. It sounds like
a lot of work but no more then building a boat from scratch. |

| Comments: |
I purchased my boat Rebellious in Nov. 1986 while living in
Newport Beach California. Rebellious was one of the early boats with the wing keel
attached. In Dec. 1994 I had the boat trucked to Florida where I was moving. I can provide
information on the process of shipping your boat if you intend to ship. Since moving to
Florida, I have installed and mounted to the cockpit pedestal, Radar Plot chart and GPS. I
recently sailed the boat in a sponsored race from Key West to Cuba; all of these upgrades
were invaluable (Came in 6th). Rebellious is an 11 year old boat and not a single system
failed on the 400 mile plus round trip. On the return tip to Miami we were in 25 knot
winds and 10 foot seas for 17 hours without any problems. I am now looking forward to
cruising the Caribbean in the future years. If I can be of any assistance fell free to
contact me by e-mail. |

I just traded my Cat 30 on the boat and we are very excited and can't wait
until next season to sail this boat. Survey was OK, did show separation of stringers
in bilge (minor) and slight lifting of deck by one chainplate ( more serious) but it
is a dealer boat and they say they will [put everything right. Vessel is in otherwise
great shape and has lots of nice gear; she was well cared for. |

topping lift - very conforatabe to use from cockpit. Trimmed around head counter with
teak. Use clear hose from sink faucet to empty aft H2O tank into forward tank to rid
aft stateroom of sloshing noise from less than full aft tank. Bought second CNG tank. Othe
wise rather production. Lots of 20 mile trips to Catalina Island. |

You don't sail in a straight line to your final destination
very often. After several tacks and or Jibes you usually make it,
only to turn around and do it allover again, in reverse, just like
the childhood game HOPSCOTCH. Sounds better than Zig-Zag or Wig-Wag. |

Rahab was a second century BC prostitute that aided
the spies of the Army of Israel, prior to the battle for Jericho.
She was instructed to leave a scarlet rope hanging from her window
so that the invading Hebrew Army would know to spare her house and
family from destruction. In an act of faith she complied and her intire
family was spared distruction. The Salvation of Rahab, the prostitute, illistrates
that even in a doomed city an ungodly prostitute could find grace
by turning in faith to God. Rahab the Catalina 34 has a scarlet
line always tied from the deck to the spreader to hoist the radar
reflector. This is a reminder that the scriptures are full of unlikely
caracters that are used by God. Rahab went on to be the grandmother
of King David, King Soloman and eventurally the great great grandmother
of Jesus Chirst. |

Fresh water in bilge(not from mast) after heavy rains= water appears in crease aft of
engine. Fighting this problem for 10 years |

I am a registered pharmacist and have recently retired. I have been boating on
Monterey Bay for 30 years+, sailing for 15 years..Local cruising and salmon fishing,
either under sail or power is what we like best. I bought this sailboat new in 1987; it is
well appointed, and very enjoyable. It's been said that it is my prescription |
since April 13, 1999. Page updated by Tom Lanzilli on 02/01/06
